Grain plays ambient that is generated live while you work. There are no lyrics, no ads between tracks, and no playlist to pick. Press Play and get back to the code.
A playlist ends, shuffles, or repeats. A looped track gives your ear a seam to find. Grain synthesizes each session as it plays, so there is no track boundary and no loop point. The music keeps moving slowly, and nothing jumps out.
Soft highs are always on: a shelf at 3.8 kHz and a gentle low-pass keep bright sparkle quiet. Field events such as a distant bell or a whale call are rare and soft. A tone setting picks bright, melodic, or drone, and one slider sets texture and tempo.
Every theme includes 30 minutes of free play each day. Grain Unlock is $19 once, plus tax where applicable. It removes the daily limit and adds longer focus timers, the sleep timer, Background mode, and offline install. Mac and iPhone apps are planned, and your key will carry over to them.
